I am a big fan of visualization, believing things into existence, and knowing there is a higher power who is in ultimate control. Therefore, when I read about the premise of “The Secret” in multiple other books, I had to read it myself.
It turns out “The Secret” was originally a movie, more like a documentary, and THEN turned into a book. Exactly the opposite of the norm. The book has now been out for over 10 years, sold millions of copies in multiple languages, and has been the catalyst for changing the trajectory of many lives all over the world.
I 100% feel it is necessary to believe in a high power, no matter what you call it. For ME, it is God but in “The Secret” it is called The Universe. However you choose to acknowledge it, do it, and respect it because whatever the higher power is and you take your life off course with poor decisions, there will be a correction. Knowing there is some higher power is necessary to keep us on the right path. I myself fell out of faith and was very susceptible to going down the wrong path and I did exactly that and found myself in Federal Prison. That is the DEFINITION of course correction. Some course corrections can be minor but some can cost others their lives.
“The Secret” is a powerful book that can change your life trajectory–IF you believe and IF you put in the effort that “The Secret” requires.

I have believed for a while now that YOU decide how successful or not successful your life will be. That is not new to me. However, what I LEARNED by reading “The Secret” is how simple it is to allow The Universe to work FOR you.
First of all, the definition of “The Secret” is the law of attraction. Now, this does not mean the physical law of attraction but it can work for you in a physical way. “The Secret” explains The Universe is like a catalogue of endless options (maybe more like Amazon in today’s terms**). All anyone has to do is send out the right “frequency” and The Universe will send what you want back to you.
So, if it is this simple, why doesn’t EVERYONE have what they want? Side Note–There is actually enough abundance of good things for everyone to be successful and have all they want** I believe not everyone has what they want because today’s society can be so focused on NEGATIVE things that The Universe will also deliver what you DIDN’T want because it doesn’t know the difference between “I believe I will find my dream job in accounting” and “I hate my crappy job in accounting!” When you TRULY believe (There are steps outlined in the book) you will find your dream job, The Universe will work on that. If all you do is complain about your crappy job, The Universe will grant you that wish also because it feels that is what you want!! It is all up to YOU and YOUR attitude.
This is HUGE because, in Federal Prison, you can bury yourself in negativity–It is so boring here, I can’t learn anything new, I won’t be out until forever, The B.O.P. doesn’t help me, I’ll never be successful because I am a felon, etc. If those are your constant thoughts, The Universe will believe that is what you want and like and you will be fulfilling your own negative self-fulfilling prophecy.
To turn your life around, Felon or not, it all starts with your own thoughts.
Why I Will Be Successful After Reading This Book:
Much of my success while in Federal Prison is tied to my daily commitment to bettering myself physically, mentally, and spiritually. The most important of those 3 is spiritual. For ME, that means reading and studying the Bible and believing God will guide me to a successful life after Prison. Reading “The Secret” ties perfectly into that because all I have to do is substitute The Universe with God.
To be successful in Prison and after Prison, you have to be mentally strong and you have to believe that not just success but abundant amounts of success is possible even though you are a “felon”.
“The Secret” forces you to believe that with a consistently positive attitude, you can have success in finances, relationships, health, and anything you “put out into the Universe”. Between the news and social media, it is very easy to fall into the negative energy or negative attitude trap–I am not good enough, it’s too hard out there, nobody will like me because I have been to Prison, I will never make good money, etc. After reading “The Secret” and sticking to my own daily disciplines, I am too mentally strong and too positive to allow any negativity to deter me from my own goals and aspirations. There are too many real-world examples and real-life success stories other than the authors in “The Secret” to ignore.
The final reason that success is on my side after reading “The Secret” is because it provides confirmation from several other books I have read (Think and Grow Rich and Prosperity are just 2) that provide the same message–thoughts are things and if you visualize yourself in a positive situation repeatedly, either God or The Universe will provide you with opportunities to succeed. Will you be READY to receive it?

My name is Jeff Piecka and I was sentenced to 34 months in a Federal Prison Camp after committing a white-collar crime several years prior to being arrested and immediately pleading guilty. Before self-surrendering on June 6, 2022, I promised my wife and family that I WILL exit Prison a better husband, son, brother, Christian, future employee, and an overall better member of society because I am going to better myself in 3 ways:
- Physically — Not just for vanity purposes but a better operating body equals a better operating mind.
- Mentally — Reading only non-fiction books, newspapers, and magazines that educate and elevate my mind and expand my vocabulary.
- Spiritually — For ME, this means learning more from the Bible but it can mean whatever “Greater Good” you believe in.
Shortly after self-surrendering and reading Michael Santos’s book “Earning Freedom–Conquering a 45-year Prison Term”, it inspired me to want to help just 1 person who is possibly heading to Prison so I started emailing my family Posts that my Sister uses to copy and paste onto a Blog on Reddit dot com called “Letters From Federal Prison”. I believe to date it has over 10,000 views and shares plus there are several comments from people advising that the Blog has helped them. This has motivated me to keep writing (which I have NEVER done anything like this before) and I REALLY want to help more people when I return to society later this year.
