Book Report

This book was a book with eight lessons from a dog’s point of view. It was written with a comedic tone, but the lessons are ones that anyone could use in life to be a better person. The lessons that were written about that stuck out to me the most were: don’t let your happiness depend on things and try not to judge people by their looks, and don’t obsess over your own. My favorite, however, was “Be grateful for what you have (It’s probably more than what you think)” I make a conscious decision daily to be thankful for all my blessings and I encourage others to do the same. I advocate against bullying and in a place like this one, there are a lot of people who are bullied. Daily, I reach out to those who seem to be alone and have no one to sit with at the dining hall or walk with on the track. I think about how I would feel in a place like this if I didn’t have even one person to ask me how my day is going, or to smile at me as I passed by. I am always trying to be a part of helping everyone here have the best day that they can. We are blessed here, to be alive, to be warm, and to have this day to become better people. A lot of people don’t see things that way and constantly complain, and find the worst in everyone and everything. Then, you have me, who pops into people’s conversations at random, to point out something good in the world, the situation, or the person that they may be talking about. I know that I go through things, and I never know what the next person is going through, so I try to always remember to be the best me, so I don’t add to someone’s problems or bad day. I know we will all make it through this time, it is just how we decide to do our time that will determine how we come out on the other side. I change everyday, and see so many good things in myself, and the choices that I make. The Paws program that I am a part of is so good for me and I am changing because of the people in it and because of the wonderful things that I am doing with the dogs. I am grateful everyday for the opportunity to be a part of something so great!!!
