Book Report

Why I read ? > What got you here won’t get you there.
After reading a few lessons from Mr. Santos it was recommended that the book be read. So,I had my family order it from Amazon books.

What have I learned from reading ?>> What got you here won’t get you there.
In reading what got you here won’t get you there had many lessons, I felt would help me when I completely understand them and used them. Mr. Goldsmith presents an approach that ,I never knew would work . The approach is a holistic approach that I will share.
Goldsmith’s book revolves around personal and professional growth. He introduces 21 habits that can be practiced and they can transform you on a professional level. There are several habits that I am going to practice.

Habit #3 Passing Judgment
This habit taught me the importance of not passing judgment because people are going to make mistakes and I shouldn’t judge them according to my standards.

Habit#4 Making destructive comments.
I have had a bad habit of making destructive comments without really knowing how effective & detrimental they were to myself & others (mentally, spiritually, & emotionally). Mr. Goldsmith said “people permit themselves to issue destructive comments under the excuse that they were true. That was profound for me because ,I used those destructive comments as an excuse to say” well its the truth its just harsh”

Habit # 7 Speaking when angry.
This habit showed me that the worst thing about anger is how it stifles our ability to change. When we get angry we are usually out of control. Anger is rarely someone else’s fault. Its a flaw that is solely our own. So when ,I am angry at someone else I think why & what have I done to bring this about?

Habit # 12 Making Excuses
This habit should’ve been my number 1. This habit showed me how I was making excuses for excuses if that makes sense. I learned that I can’t blame anyone for living out the negative expectations that I have chosen to believe. This showed me that excuses are not genetic flaws, but things we have come to believe and people helped us to believe we can’t do.

Habit # 16 Not listening
This habit taught me the importance of really learning how to listen . When I read it,I was like wow my listening skills are flawed. As a matter of fact, I am not listening at all. So , now I listen without interrupting, looking the person in their eyes, and listening with respect.

Conclusion: This book is a must read. I feel like anyone can learn from reading What got you here won’t get you there. I plan to used this information to share with others & my my family.
