In “Mastering the Game” Sharone Jones shares the best ways to achieve career success by following the 10 unwritten rules in the workplace and how to use those rules to your advantage. I chose this book to learn from Jones’ strategies so that I could be successful when I return to society and begin my career path. I wanted to learn the qualities that helped her to become a successful lawyer, consultant and business woman, so that I could hopefully apply them in my life to achieve career success as a paralegal.
Jones provided several valuable lessons:
- By approaching your career very intentionally you achieve the level of success you desire. You have to have the right mind set when you show up to work.
- No one can make you feel inferior without your consent -Eleanor Roosevelt
- Work with errors, even minor ones, makes you unreliable.
- Building relationships is essential to long term success.
I believe “Mastering the Game” will influence my future success because it has provided me with knowledge and insights that are sure to be instrumental in my journey towards career success.
