“Retreat, Hell!” written in 2004 by W.E.B. Griffen.
It is the tenth and final book in the book series “THE CORPS”.
The first book I found in my dorm in Harris County Jail was the ninth book in the series “Under Fire”. I read that book over and over for a month because I thought it was the only book in the dorm. That was not a knock on the book, it is a great story. “Under Fire” tells of Major Malcolm Pickering, a USMC pilot being shot down during the Korean War. His friend Major Kenneth McCoy starts the search for him. It finishes on a cliffhanger that I always wanted to know how it ends. I was lucky enough to find the next book “Retreat, Hell” here at Garza West. It wraps up the story for me.
I have now read four of W.E.B. Griffen’s books and they are always detailed, descriptive, military, C.I.A., or police force stories. There can be noticed a template in his story telling that is a bit predictable. I would however read more of his works because they are entertaining.
I will lay off nonfiction for a while and read more edifying titles.
