Terry M Collum 10338-509

36 years of age, serving a 90-month sentence. A loving father of 3 children. Two daughters and a son. I am the youngest of my siblings. The man i call my father is really my step father and has raised me since i was 4. In the real world i would say that i am an automotive technician / mechanic. I owned / operated a repair shop with my father. Born and raised in Akron Ohio the birth place of Alcoholics Anonymous. What a blessing it is to be apart of the 12 steps. I have a sponsor and a home group. The love and support of the fellowship has stood by my side this whole incarceration. My crimes that I committed on May 28th, 2020 and taking FULL responsibility for my actions , changed the direction of my life. My projected release date is 11-29-2026 with 5 years served i have immersed myself in sobriety programming and variety of prison ministry programs. I have the insight to recognize that I have a serious addiction to methamphetamines and alcohol and that my addiction is the reason, NOT an excuse for my criminal behavior. During the summer of 2016 my father and I in the front of my repair shop giveaway used bicycles to the children in the neighborhood as a way of saying Thank You to our community. My 3 children was apart of that giveaway and they too remember the excitement we all had that day. Only in sobriety was i able to be of service yo my neighbors and friends. Despite my self-imposed obstacles one can sense from the numerous programs that i can demonstrate an ability and potential to still be a productive member of society. I have my GED, attended Automotive Technology courses at Stark State College and have a consistent employment history with my Business Terry’s Automotive & Tire. Now wile in prison i developed a curriculum to start a First Step Act ACE class and approved by education department to teach Basic Automotive in prison. I understand and realize that i let others down by my poor decisions and upon the completion of my sentence i intend to demonstrate, to those that care about my well-being, that i am now dedicated to doing the right thing and is committed to adding value and benefit to their lives and to our society.
