My name is Scarlett Webb. (#23696510) I am 40 years old and from Little Rock AR. I am serving a 10 yr. sentence at Aliceville Alababma.
I started criminal activity when my husband was killed by the police in 2013. He was not even a convicted felon when they shot him 7 times for fleeing from them. It was both a way to support myself after his death and a way to rebel against law enforcement that had caused me and my children so much pain. I was overwhelmed and under prepared to be the instant breadwinner and took the easy fast route since I had no education and 4 kids to feed.
It took a long time to realize that I was giving them exactly what they wanted and becoming the statistic they wanted me to be in addition to the justification they needed in the aftermath of my husband’s death. since being locked up and having a clear head I’ve decided to take control of my destiny and to turn all the no’s into yes’s. I have a new agenda. My dream is to become a real estate agent and flip house like I used to do with narcotics. I am engrossed in many books to learn the craft and educate myself. I have been clean and soberminded for three years and never wish to go back. I work hard everyday to do something positive for myself and others. I’ve signed up for vop tech electrical and carpentry to help aid my dream. I’ve taken every program i can possibly take and put extreme effort to mend strained relationships at home that were affected by my lifestyle. I also want to advocate for the many women that i have met doing 20, 30, 40 yrs and even life for non-violent drug crimes. Prison reform is essential and our voices need to be heard.
