Biography Entry: Mark Mazzare

I am a 57-year-old physician who spent decades caring for patients with dedication and compassion. As both a clinician and business owner, I worked hard to serve my community and navigate the complexities of the healthcare system with integrity.

In 2024, after closing my medical practice, I pled guilty to charges related to the unlawful acquisition of Medicare beneficiary information. These charges stemmed from my participation in a legitimate, government-sponsored COVID-19 testing program—a program designed to provide vital public health support during the pandemic. However, the way in which the program was administered by third parties I had contracted with ultimately violated federal law.

I placed trust in a nationally known and respected billing team that presented the opportunity as fully compliant. While I initially believed the program to be legitimate, I failed to take action when I began to suspect it was being carried out improperly. I rationalized my inaction and did not perform the level of due diligence required. That was a serious failure on my part, and I take full responsibility for it.

I deeply regret the consequences of my decisions—the harm caused to the Medicare program, to my reputation, to the patients I can no longer serve, and to the friends and family who have been affected. I am committed to rebuilding my life with humility, transparency, and accountability, and to demonstrating through future actions that this chapter does not define the whole of who I am or the values I have long held.
