Biography Entry: Lisa Michele Powers

Prior to incarceration I lived in Texas and worked as a general contractor. I also ran with the wrong crowd and started using meth, which led to selling meth. I got farther and farther into my addiction and the drug life and lost track of what was important, like my family. I was sentenced to 10 years in Texas Department of Criminal Justice and made parole in 2017. I went back to county to wait to be sentenced by the feds. I was sentenced to 188 months in the BOP in 2019 which violated my Texas parole. I got sent back to prison to make parole again. I made parole the second time in 2021 and finally started my federal time. Since I have been incarcerated I have I guess you could say grown up and realized what really matters in life. I am participating in programs and taking classes to help me learn healthier ways to cope with past trauma and to be a better person in the future. I am by no means perfect but I feel I have improved drastically from who I used to be. I plan to keep working on myself so I can be the woman I know I can be.
