Biography Entry: Leroy Gibbs

I have been following the release plan that was outlined with Michael. I worked with Mike from the time of my arrest until I went in. He has given me invaluable insight.
My name is Leroy Gibbs.
I was brought to prison for making a horrible mistake by accepting a bribe from a vendor who was working for the City of New York while I was employed as a Resident building Superintendent for the NYC Housing Authority. The job I had previously held for 36 years. I betrayed the trust of the agency for which I worked, along with the residents who trusted me to help make their lives better around the development where they lived. I also let down my family, friends, and community, who depended on me throughout. I do understand the problems that I caused by the poor decisions that I made, and immediately from the onset of this journey, I took full responsibility for my actions and behaviors.
To better myself and reduce the chances of recidivism, I have and will continue Leroy Gibbsreading books and documenting my journey on a biweekly basis. The books that I’m reading are based upon great influential philosophers, businessmen, and historians who are and have been trailblazers throughout history.
I have qualified for the RDAP program to assist me with my alcohol dependency, which should help me stay sober and become a more productive member of society. I have ambitions to run my own building maintenance company upon my release if allowed to by the stakeholders who will make decisions concerning my liberty.
