Hello,
My name is Joe Faulkner. I am 50 years of age and I have been incarcerated since 2011. I’m currently serving a 30-year sentence for RICO and drug conspiracy convictions.
It has been an ongoing battle with myself and with the Justice System, in which I must add that myself along with the system has made many improvements in much needed areas.
This has been a very interesting journey of me. I started in a low security institution serving a 91 month sentence. While serving that sentence I was indicted again eventually finishing with another 40 year sentence that landed me in a maximum security institution. From there I worked my way back down to another low security institution in which took over 8 years of extreme patience dedication and concentration.
Earning way from maximum to low security was no easy task for me but I remained focused and stayed on the proper path in order to achieve my short and long term goals.
I’ve programmed consistently earning accolades such as Paralegal Certification, Diploma in Business and Corporate Law, Financial Markets analysis, College Student and Leather Craftsman (amongst others). I’m also a Student of Scripture. I’ve also completed a vast majority of the programs that have been available to me while being housed at different institutions.
I’ve also never given up on regaining my freedom. I’m constantly filing petitions on non-frivolous matters relating to my circumstances. I truly believe that one day soon I will be granted my freedom and I ready myself regularly preparing for my time to come. My ultimate goal is to become a productive member of society and give back.
I joined the Prison Professors community not only to share my story and personal experiences but to also learn from others. In the Prison Professors community every teacher is also a student.
