Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Jonathan Bryant Little, I am 57 years old and presently serving a 108-month sentence at USP Leavenworth. In 2020 I pled guilty to 3 counts of robbery that netted my present sentence. I am from Washington, DC but I am not serving a federal sentence. I was sentenced in Washington, DC superior court which is equivalent to state court in any other jurisdiction. I do meet the criteria to get FSA credits or even days off my sentence for programming. I am sentenced under the DC code and not federal regulation laws. However, I have taken and completed all of the Adult Continuing Educational programming and am currently enrolled in Vocational Teacher’s Aide under the guidance of the Department of Labor with over 1000 hours of training. There are multiple other courses/programs that I’ve taken and completed. Since my incarceration, I have never been given a (shot) write-up, or taken to the (SHU) Special Housing Unit for any sort of violations of institutional rules. At present, I’ve completed a Non-Residential Drug Program, Drug Education, and some psychology programs. I have worked here in the Leavenworth Educational Dept.. for 2 years as a Vocational Clerk. I am presently acquiring more knowledge about Success After Prison as I am currently of have been asked by Leavenworth Educational staff to facilitate your program of Success After Prison. Let me give you a little background about myself. I was born in Winston-Salem NC to Jerrie and Gaddy Little. I was raised in Washington, DC after my family relocated there due to my father’s legal issues in NC. I lost my father to the streets of violence in Washington DC in 1981. I have been dealing with illegal activities in my life since the early age of 13 or less. I dropped out of school in the 9th grade a began a prison life in and out from that point until present. In 1994 I was 28 years old by this time I had a felony record of burglaries and drug use. I was found guilty in Charles Count Md. for robbery and having already 2 felony convictions on record I was hit for the 3rd with 3 strike law that netted me a sentence of 25 years without the possibility of parole. I did not see the streets of freedom again until November 23, 2009, 15 years later. During that incarceration in 1999 I obtained my GED, that was the most positive thing I did during those 15 years of confinement. In May of 1994 I met Yolanda, we wrote each other over the next 15 years and married on January 1, 2010. I did well for a while after my release obtaining different jobs, one being a Workforce Development Specialist for the Dept… Of Employment Services (DOES) under the Washington DC government. I started or should I say re-started using drugs again. As a result, I lost my employment and respect. I became addicted thus I am now serving a 108-month sentence. One thing that I now realize is that I did not position myself for success after prison. At present I am CEO/Founder of I.M.P.A.C.T.- Individuals Making Positive Adjustments Concerning Teens a 501 c-3 Non-Profit established in 2017 out of the Washington DC metro area. It was my hope to develop this non-profit as a tool to assist inner city youth from making the same mistakes that I have made in my life that led to a 25-year sentence. I did not do a good job crack cocaine became my primary relationship and destroyed everything. I do realize that it is not too late and I can and will succeed in my future. Having been given this opportunity it facilitate your program Success After Prison has given me a new outlook that I can secure a brighter future and become a different color cow(smiling). I am hopeful that we will meet at some point and develop a trusting, worthy, encouraging relationship. I am open to anything positive that you may offer to me at this point. As a facilitator of your program, it is my desire to present your system of success to the men here at Leavenworth USP in a manner that would change their lives. Please forward to me any ideas or guidance that you have that would assist in making this possible. There is much more to share about my life, however, I will reserve that for future conversations. Thank you for your time and I am hopeful that you will be willing to mentor me as others have you. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you in the very near future.
Truly,
Jonathan B. Little 00561-107
