I am from Omaha Ne I am 39 years old I have 5 children by my ex husband of 13 years. I am serving 186 months on possession with intent to distribute. I was given 2 point enhancement for leadership role and so I do not qualify for FSA or FTC’S. I am however using this time to be a better version of myself. While on pretrial i went through intense inpatient intense outpatient and even began to work as a resident advocate at a recovery center for survivors of human trafficking I was promoted to case manager and then Program manager before being sentenced I found my purpose I also was secretary of the AA club I went to. All in all I was rebuilding my life and made it to the path i enjoyed and see myself doing in the future. Coming to prison I see it as an opportunity to build more my relationship with God to help others come closer to God and also get as educated as possible. I work here as a fulltime mental health mentor and suicide companion. I have taken 4 ace classes even though it does nothing for my release and time I still enjoy learning new things and growing. I am on the wait list for the tutor training class and have been reviewing and working through books trying to put together a curriculum for relapse prevention. My boss said maybe we can begin a peer led class in the psychology department for inmates who choose to gain knowledge for mindfulness. or relapse prevention, grief, and the sorts of classes that are mostly only available in the self help books offered or ace programs offered. My thing is to bring awareness and plant seeds of recovery and healing and what that may look like. So many people come and are on wait list and may not ever get into those fsa classes and end up getting released even immediate release and have not prepared therefore end up relapsing or returning to prison on violation or new charge. I have also been putting together a few business plan ideas for my future. I would like to open a recovery center for survivors of Human trafficking like my previous employment, but I want this one faith based and to have a pre-program, the 18-24 month program, and then an aftercare with optional apartment community. To teach the survivors that they have a voice and a choice and are worth time and space in the community to give them hope. I want it to be a place that offers wrap around services and also has trained employees for trauma informed care, DID(disassociated identity disorder), and SRA(satanic ritual abuse) Now know as Organized ritual abuse. I have other plans too but i am one step at a time. Right now is studying and learning and planning. I want to help my community and many others and being from Nebraska where we are top on the list for human trafficking I want to end that I want to see change. I am also working at reunification with my children who I write to every week. In hopes to encourage them not to follow my steps and to break the generational addiction and trauma. To grow up to be successful productive little human beings in society. I want to give back to my community and help others and be a pillar of the community a light and a beacon of hope and change.
