My name is Harley Kathryn McManus, however, I have been divorced since in the BOP, so when I get released, I will go back to my maiden name, which is Aquino. I am 26 years old, I have two boys who are 7 and 10. I am a very determined individual who can accomplish anything I put my mind to. I am very creative and hard-working. I came to prison on a conspiracy to trafficking meth and possession with intent to distribute meth. I had just left my husband, the father of my two kids, his mother went behind my back and got a lawyer and wrote temporary custody papers on my youngest son. Due to that, I had nothing and no support to not sign them. So I did, then I got introduced to meth, and it went all downhill from there. I started getting in trouble for a bunch of little things like stealing from Walmart and simple possession of marijuana. I was with a man who made it his goal to go to the top of selling meth in our town within a couple of months. I was there doing it right beside him, he got caught and then two years later, they arrested me because not only did I tell on myself, he and one other guy said that it was all mine. So that’s how I got here summed up. There is way more to it, due to the fact that I had a harder growing up, however, that would take up this whole email. I am currently in the RDAP program trying to start the process of the program even though I don’t get the time off. I take any and all classes that I can to help me learn how to think better, do better, and become better. I also have changed the people I hang out around. I want to be a better person who can handle their feelings and deal with everyday life expectations. I have had a job since I have step foot on this compound and I am trying to learn new things every day to take home with me so I can have a better-paying job. I am also in the process of trying to pay off any and all fines, and tickets now before I go home, so I will not have to worry about that, including my driver’s license. I want to learn everything I can while I am here so I can prepare myself to do better upon my release so I can become a productive member of society. Thank you for your time.
