ADDITION #2 TO RELEASE PLAN
Below are summaries and their effects on my rehabilitation efforts with additional Evidence Based Recidivism Reduction Programs and Productive Activities completed since my Release Plan in November 2022 and since Addition # 1 in August 23, 2023:
- Brain Health as You Age – This recreation class focused on the healthy living and lifestyle choices that are critical in life, especially after the age of 50. This course reiterated my philosophy to try and continue efforts towards living a fully balanced life in all categories; physically, emotionally, spiritually, mentally. All of these areas can have an impact on brain health.
- ACE Packets – I have had the opportunity to help facilitate two Adult Continuing Education packets for over 100 camp inmates for the education department. Learning about Edgar Allan Poe and Starting a Business allowed me to expand on my prior education and previous ACE packet knowledge. No matter the topic, I believe you can learn and challenge and grow your brain at any age.
- Staying attune to current events with newspapers and magazines – I am fortunate to have a subscription to the Wall Street Journal, Time Magazine, Men’s Health, and Texas Monthly. I especially enjoy the Wall Street Journal and Time Magazine because I can stay attune to what is happening in the world and also keep relevant with information on the topics that interest me and I think have a major impact on the world and society. Those include economics, artificial intelligence, green energy, renewable energy, geo-politics, globalization, world hunger, water sustainment, the environment, and climate issues. I would like to use my education, knowledge, and business strengths to make a positive impact on people and on our world so as to do my part to leave this world a better place than it was during my lifetime.
- Prison Job – I am enjoying my six month working for the Trust Fund in the warehouse and commissary. The job offers some good physical labor at times, which I appreciate, and it allows me to use my love of numbers and math as we count the commissary and other inventory received and distributed each week. I also continue cleaning the Union Office each week, and perform the duties of clerk for the camp recreation department. We are ramping up more FSA and Sentry credit classes and programs in recreation for the inmates.
- Books – I have read approximately 15 books since my last update to the release plan in August. I do quite a bit of reading already with the Wall Street Journal and legal material each day, so I like to give my brain some entertainment by rotating fiction books with non-fiction, which include religious and uplifting authors.
