Journal Entry

Its Monday morning and last week was somewhat productive, even if I wasn’t able to get all the answers i was looking for with the education department. I was able to get a list of all correspondence colleges that the BOP have pre-approved. So my plan is to write most of them and ask them about their admission process and any scholarship programs they might have. Because from my understanding so far, incarcerated individuals are not eligible for Pell Grants to do correspondence courses and the camp here at Fairton doesn’t provide any college courses. But I’m going to keep researching and send out as many letters as i need until i figure out how to get my goal of an associates degree started. I refuse to give up and I’m committed to succeeding this time around. I also spoke with the non residential drug treatment program coordinator and had my interview so i should be starting that within the next few weeks. Im also waiting for some classes to start within the education department. So even if my progress is moving forward as fast as id like it to, I feel positive and feel like it’s heading in the right direction. I plan on starting my release plan this week and should have it done and posted by the end of the week.
