Reginald Fullwood Jr-06/22/2025-Happy Birthday Son!

Journal Entry

Today is my son’s birthday. While previous blogs have chronicled events and personal thoughts from FPC Montgomery, today’s blog is a monologue to my son. I would like to thank the village upfront for indulging me as I recognize my son of this very special day.

Son, today I want to start by saying Happy Birthday. Birthdays are a time for celebration. For most people, it’s a time to celebrate another year of life. For other’s, it’s an opportunity to celebrate and reflect on a year of growth with anticipation for great things to come.

Turning 26 today, you’re blessed to add another year of life. You see, I was there when you were born. I remember the emergency associated with your birth. Frightened and alarmed, my adrenalin raced into overdrive as I helped the doctors and nurses frantically deliver you. When you made it through that ordeal, I breathed a sigh of relief and thanked God that you made it here safely. While I’ve heard you cry many times over the years, there is nothing that compares to the sweet cries I heard when you came into the world. So with that history, I will never take your birthday for granted. I celebrate each year of life with you because I truly understand how precious life can be.

Turning 26 today, you find yourself in a situation that you didn’t anticipate. At the same time, you stumbled upon an opportunity for growth. You dad is at FPC Montgomery. You have been asked to step up and fill the void. You’ve been thrust into the role of being the man of the house. This is another opportunity for greatness and to make me proud.
For perspective, I direct you to Shakespeare who once said, “Be not afraid of greatness…Some are born great, Some achieve greatness, and Some have greatness thrust upon ’em.”

Let 26 be another moment to shine. Reach for the stars, don’t settle for mediocrity, take care of your mom, handle family business, keep your head down, work hard, and most importantly, do the right thing even when no one is looking. I’m counting on and have faith in you. You got this!

Happy Birthday Son! I love you!
