Journal Entry

I had my pre-sentence interview. It seemed to go well. I prepared a statement for the probation officer, but she and my new public defender told me not to give it. So I typed it up and emailed it to the officer. I think it was well received; but honestly I gave it for me, to begin to clear my conscience, to begin reconciliation. I’m working on a longer narrative letter that more fully explains everything and takes full responsibility. Who knows what the public defender will tell me to do with it, but at some point I will send it to the probation officer, the prosecutor, and/or the judge. I also wrote a letter to patients and colleagues to publicly acknowledge my wrongdoing and my work to fix it, which started years ago and will continue until the day I die.
