On Tuesday, June 2, I attended the Threshold Graduation here at FCI-Aliceville. I was a guest of a very good friend. She and I met in Waseca, Minnesota so now we’ve served time with on two different compounds together. While at Waseca we were even in the PAWS program together.
It was very rewarding for me to see her graduate a six month program that helped her discover her true value and help heal old wounds. The program is run through Religious Services and focuses on using a person’s higher power/spiritual center to overcome their past traumas.
In addition to the graduates’ guests, there were several staff in attendance, as well as the volunteers who helped teach the class. It was a joy to see the volunteers shower their students with love and words of wisdom. Their sincerity was very touching. Both Associate Wardens stood up to offer words of congratulations and encouragement, as well as the head chaplain. Several other staff members were there to applaud and cheer on the ladies as they received their certificates and make their way across the stage.
I was very fortunate to be a guest and be there to offer support and love to my friend and I’m so thankful I got to participate in the event.
