Biography Entry: Diana Marie Moore

My Biography….

My Name is Diana Moore 40246-510 I have 66 months (5yrs 6mo) in Federal Prison. I cant write and say i don’t know why I am here because I do. I allowed my world around me to consume me and my need for the good life to take over. They say to start trying to rehabilitee yourself you must 1st recognize your own faults in your own mistakes. So I have done so I had a legate business and business plan that was working for me but I started to slack and cut corners and help others start there business and instead of sticking to my original goal I started wanting more and as we all know greed is the #1 killer in anything. My crime is considered white collar. But I must embrace my circumstances. I grew up with my mother and grandmother, yes I knew my father but during the time of my life when I needed him most he was not there due to my mother moving us to Las Vegas, NV from Chicago,IL. Up until I was 13yrs old my Life was pretty good and simple I went to a good catholic school on the southside of Chicago and every summer I went away to overnight camp where I was the only Black person there on a scholarship.

Once moving to Las Vegas, NV in my 8th grade year my life took a turn for the worst I no longer had my grandmother to keep me grounded and my mother now had a new husband and new baby boy who she cared for and had no time for me. So I did what most others do I turned to the streets and the people who was there as my comfort blanket. Worst mistake I could have ever made. I didn’t get into drugs because I saw how they affected my father side of the family however I did start drinking which was my escape but never turned into a alcoholic. I always just wanted the life my grandmother had once afford me.

Now looking back on my life I was always doomed to be in prison but it took me 45 yrs to get here. I still am very grateful that I didn’t go when I was younger when my kids needed me most. Now that I am serving this 5 1/2 year bid I find myself reflecting on my past and trying to figure out not only how to become a law abiding citizen again but also how I can help all the women who are here and use my knowledge to assist them once I they get out of prison’s. My grandmother was a social worker for the state of Illinois for over 50 years, I now want to help others the same way she did. I finally found 2 other like minded people who goals are the same as mines here in prison and we now have formed our own Non Profit Organization with the help of Prison Professors Success After Release Program. We are taking our goals and using his book to spread the word and help others realize that they too can be successful after doing prison time.
