My name is Kevin Franke. I have been incarcerated since I was 20 years old for terrible decisions I made when I was 16. Since I came to prison at a relatively young age, I needed to find a way to navigate. In the past, I had found influence from the people I surrounded myself with, I tried to find advice from the people around me during the beginning of my prison term, but the advice offered was certainly a path to destruction. The daily prison activities didn’t interest me and I have ended up finding my influence through books. I read a mountain of books that I found inspiration through, I read about successful people that I aspired to be like, these people I read of became my mentors. This process led to a complete paradigm shift in my mentality. I began to make decisions and develop habits that mirrored those of the successful people I read of. Currently, I am working toward earning my first college degree, and I write daily to prepare myself for release from prison. I aspire to become a published author with a career in real estate. I utilize my time now to return to society, a good neighbor, a good family member, and someone who has a positive impact on my community.
