I would like to see the prison system change the way they incentive inmates. For example i do not think anyone should be excluded from earning early release credit. Because then you will only have the inmates that are eligible getting involve in rehabilitation programs.
If everyone was able to get the same opportunity and credit. Then more inmates would take these classes. This would have a greater impact of rehabilitating more inmates. I am around inmates that currently do not see the need to program because they are not getting First step act credit.
I try to get them to understand event though they are not getting any credit they should still invest in themselves. They should not need an incentive to better their lives. But since that option is available. I think it would have a bigger impact if all could benefit from it.
Because even if an inmate is only doing it to get home sooner. He may just hear something in a class that will make him or her make a real change in their life. This can only happen if the opportunity was equal for all i think.
