I believe in obtaining educational credentials, first of all. Then attaining these credentials while in prison allows one to better prepare themselves once they get out. I have taken advantage of earning educational credentials and this has position me in a better situation upon release. I have two associate’s degrees and I am working on my bachelor’s. I have an Electrical Journeyman license for the state of West Virginia in which I can get upon release and get reciprocated to where I am released, along with many Esco certifications. I have the OSHA 30 hrs and an NCCER certifications in which is nationally recognize for electrical and HVAC. I have ServSafe/ManageFirst and ACT/gold certifications. These degrees, licenses and certifications, have prepared me for life on the outside by giving me the skills that I need on the outside. I have taken advantage of these opportunities of being allowed to take these programs, because I know that playing sports and tabletops, and watching talk shows and reality TV is not going to help me once I get out of here.
