I see as my greatest weakness before entering the justice system as lack of discipline. I am well educated, intelligent and hard working but a lack of discipline always hindered me, that a alot of negative self-talk. Here I have learned to be positive and focus on the inputs rather than the results. For instance, instead of focusing on increasing my spiritual connection I have instead focused on making sure I have some time every morning for prayer, bible reading and reflection…focusing on the input has rewarded me with a much stronger spiritual connection. The same can be said for my work experience, health journey and relationship with my family while I’m here in prison. By focusing on what I can do to grow, learn and do the little things right the bigger things are starting to happen in very positive ways.
My newfound discipline and focus has given me a fortitude that was not there before.
