Journal Entry: Mario A Lesesne-08/28/2024-Adaptable 2

Journal Entry

I have an incredible mentor, Mrs. Pamela Bailey, from the Nonprofit “More than our crimes” and she is very instrumental in helping me with my reentry and transitional process. She recently read my journal and gave a few suggestions which made excellent points. So, I took her advice and address those thoughts in efforts to provide clarity for my readers, and clarify some of the things I spoke about.

I want to apologize for the confusion, I’m still getting used to sharing my thoughts in this format. It’s a learning process that I very much enjoy and want things to be clear for those reading and supporting me, so thank you.

Mrs. Bailey asked, when I was alone in my cell, where was my cellmate? Generally the only few moments I get alone is if he is in the shower. And he takes three showers a day, so I try to take those combined minutes and sit in the solitude and silence of my room and seek out serenity to melt away the stress of the day.

For aren’t knowledgeable about Theta waves, I first discovered the concept when I was watching Ancient Aliens and The UnXplained, two of my favorite program, from the History channel. History is one of my favorite channels, because I able to watch and learn things from the many interesting programs they feature. In this specific program they were speaking of the evolution of humans psychic abilities, Star children which or children that are more sensitive to their natural psychic abilities and Edgar Casey a remote viewer who could access the Akashic record. The Akashic Record is a place in the universe where people who meditate can learn about the mysteries of the universe. Apart of that is getting your brain waves to a certain level through meditation and one of the ways it spoke of was Theta Waves. So, I purchased “Deep Theta Waves 2.0” from the Trulincs terminal and downloaded it onto my Score 7C Tablet for $1.55. And I listen to them when I want to meditate and clear my head.

There was a sentence, I’ve become adjusted to a specified use or situation life (It’s supposed to be “like”) the definition insist. I fine tune the activities I participate in, modify the way I think, and I’m willing and ready to practice the beliefs I’ve created for myself in order to proceed towards positive change. I was simply stating that similar to how the definition is worded, I had adjusted myself to my incarceration. I am very careful in the activities that I participate i in effort not to get into any conflicts or trouble, I think more rationally, and I am willing to to practice the beliefs I’ve been taught through various classes and programs.

There’s a question of this statement, “prion is a vessel of continuous change and everyday is different, vastly, from the next.” In my mentors humble opinion, she heard that prison can be very tedious and often too much the same. So, let me explain. If a person doesn’t seek out programs, classes, activities and are content with sitting in the unit everyday and watching TV or hanging out with their homeys, or politicking with gangs and groups their affiliated with, prison can be very much the same and tedious. But it’s all a matter of perception. When you engaged in positive activities there are days like the last two days where we had Fog banks coming in and our schedules were delayed by two hour. So no commissary, no call-out/appointments and people didn’t show up for work so some units had to lock back down until an officer shows up. And the BOP is very short staffed so sometimes the days are guaranteed to be the way we plan them.

There was a question posed about this statement. I’ve become very adaptable to the pressure that I face and take the good out of the bad situations I endure daily. The question was, “How did you learn that and get yourself to actually incorporate it.?” And I was tasked with telling a story about a situation that happened in the past, before I changed, and then tell us how you handle such a challenge today. Actually, I gave a great example in a previous journal directly following the first Adaptable Journal. The Journal was, “Rational Thinking” I learn skills when I took the Challenge program and presented a situation that happened by doing a RSA(Rational self Analysis) Please see example “Journal Rational Thinking”

There was a statement in question, “Helping others, undoubtedly helps me, very much. I seek to empower my neighbor with ambition, direction, motivation, so that they may convert their lives into something advantageous. and was asked to tell a story about one person I’ve impacted in this way. The story will have false names in order to protect the confidentiality and discretion of the person in question.

Jeff has a 12 year old daughter named Hazel. Hazel is currently a heavy Marijuana smoker. Jeff came to me in confidence and asked me to read his life story because he is trying to write a book. So, I read his first 3 chapters. He then asked me how could he explain the life he lived to his daughter as an example of how he was when he was her age. I told Jeff, that we could dissect his story and put it in a letter to show his daughter not only how he grew up, but that it would be a shining example of how he became an addict and the trauma the led to him self medicating which is what she is currently doing because no one in her family took her serious when she confided that she was molested by a family friend. I explained to him that she is scarred and hurt that no one believed her and that this person is still hanging around so is a continual trigger for her to see him. She may not feel safe. She may not know how to deal with any of the emotions and fears she’s experiencing and that may very well be the reason she turned to Marijuana. I explained that her reading how her own father never felt love from an abusive mother, which led him to hanging out in the streets, robbing innocents, and selling cocaine then using it led to his incarceration, would be relatable to her and may help her open up to him more. And talking could be therapeutic and open the door to her actually going to a family therapist. And we wrote the letter and sent it to Hazel and I’m waiting on an update to see if she is getting the help she needs.

I’d like to my Mentor for keeping me on my toes and helping me to become a better narrator, I’d also like to thank the PPT team and Mr. Santos for his informative emails that have helped me learn how to write book reports and journal as well. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.
