Since coming to Danbury Federal Prison in 2021 I have gotten two Apprenticeships Office Manager, Housekeeping and hopefully will be getting my Peer Support or Legal Secretary. I have also gotten Serv Safe Certified for Managers as well as Work Keys testing.

I am 59 year old female and I have been a Property Manager and Manager of Multi Million Dollar Company Casey’s In Iowa I have helped my first husband open his first business Trailer Company and Trade Mark some things. I am moving to a farm in Iowa upon my release and I want to go live City Girl goes to the Country or Federal Prison Inmate goes to the Farm haven’t decided yet. As you know Small town Main Street in Midwest is closing most of the doors and business going out of business I want to open a second hand store in my town of Thor Iowa or a surrounding town. I have a knack for shopping and I was Retail Merchandiser for years and have done auctions and etc….So I would like to bring affordable Clothing and such to others since this economy is so bad….Not a lot of start up cost I have place in mind to rent an old bank I have partners as well my daughters one in the Navy, One in Real Estate and another Heavy Equipment Operator and another works for City in Iowa ..So I think together we can put in Start up cost and it be something I would leave them when my time calls…

I have done Fit and RDAP and its changed my life, the way I think, I am not impulsive, I think before I react and I play the tape all the way to the end before I make a choice…I have coping skills now and I have communication skills and I don’t blow up or over react I can go on and on what I have been taught and I am so solid in my foundation to change and be sober.

I am thinking maybe 15,000 to start my business

Bop follows the law as its written second chance act, Fsa and incorporate more inmates to take RDAP and Fit…

My community is very important to me I want to be a productive member of society and pay it forward, so I will be involved in planting a big garden sharing my garden with my community and as well go to the Nursing homes in my area and spend quality time with the folks and celebrate holidays with them and just be involved as well as park and rec and fun things to do to be a positive community member.

The skills and changes I have made are my future and it’s looking very bright and positive even in prison.
