Biography Entry: Ijeoma Okoro

My name is Ijeoma Okoro, but everyone calls me IJ for short. I’m originally from Lagos Nigeria but I’ve been living in the U.S for almost 20 years, I have an amazing 10 year son that I love immensely. I graduated from CSU Bakersfield in 2014 with a B.A in public administration, I initially wanted to be a pediatric doctor but I didn’t focus enough for that due to boy distractions, I settled for Public Administration, because I truly want to help people, especially the impoverished children in Nigeria. Fast forward to 2021 when I got arrested, it was a shocker not just to me but to everyone around me because based on my charges the people around me were surprised because I always emphasized not to defraud anyone because if they believed in God and cried to God, then who can stand and battle against God. Fast forward to 2024 I was sentenced cruel and unusually because not only did my Judge not show me mercy, he used me as an example because I went to trial and fought for my rights. My faith throughout this journey has been so strong, I believe and trust in God so much, though some days like today July 18, 2024 I am a little sad, I know that God is still on the throne.
