Biography Entry: Uyoyo Mercy Abire

My name is Yoyo Mercy Abire (the meaning of Uyoyo is LOVE), I am 26 years old (July 20, 1997). I am from Delta State Nigeria but grew up in Lagos. I am happily married and blessed with a child. I came from a family of six, I have 3 siblings and I am the first. I am a Christian, a pastor’s daughter (lol) yes. My dad is a pastor back in Nigeria. I am a people person, very friendly and goofy. My American favorite food is the Louisiana Crayfish and My Nigerian favorite food is Amala and Ewedu. My favorite color is Blue and green. I love sport, I started track when I was 12 years old. I went to Louisiana State University, I was on a sports scholarship. I was in the track and field team and my specialty was Long Jump, my best distance was 6.52 meters (I didn’t know it in Feet). i am Nigeria 3rd best longjumper. Sport has always been part of my life but since I have been incarnated I discovered there is more I can do than sport.
I was charged with Conspiracy to Launder Monetary instruments. I was vulnerable and used but I have learned my lesson during this journey and I want to get the best out of me now. I have always wanted to have an orphanage home because I love kids. I have never gone to my home village because I grew up in the City of Lagos, Nigeria. I want homeless kids to know that they are loved, no matter the situation. I will make sure they go to school and also learn creative skills. Let’s go back a little bit, after I graduated from LSU with a major of Interdisciplinary study. I applied for Masters in Human resources and I only did a semester (3.90 cgp). But during my time in school I learnt how to recruit athletes from African countries to USA to play sport, I successfully recruited 10 athletes both in Nigeria and Ghana. I also got an internship job with AIG Agency, where I was a Brooker. I recruited professional athletes to agency when there will able to get endorsement. Someday, I know I will own my recruiting firm. While, in prison I learnt new skills, for real I never had a skill but now I got a skill (lol). I work at Unicorn where I learnt how to sew, guess I was say I am pretty good with my hands. I am handle an Afro beat dance class when I teach my fellow AICs how to dance African dance. I am also in a music theory class, I want to learn how to play the piano.
I have a journal, were i write down my plans and dreams when i get out of prison. First of all, i plan to start a non profit organization that will help me get kids out of the street. There is a lot of brilliant and talented kids back home, who does not have family to nature them. I will make sure they have the oppunitiy to go school, have 3 square meal and also learn new skills. My other plan is to start up a sport media/ recruiting firm that will give African athletes to come oversees both to play sport and also go to school. back how it is so hard to go to school and also play sport , you have to pick one. I also plan to go into real estate

Book Report
I am reading a book titled; What Color is Your Parachute? by Richard N. Bolles.
Honestly speaking, I am still reading the book and I really find this book interesting. I have always been the type of person, who does not know her purpose always get focused on what to do and always scared to fail so I was always closed box. I had to stick with athletics’ thinking that was the only thing I am called to do in this life (lol) but now I am an open box and I want to learn new things. I learnt from this book and what got my attention was the Rich Feller’s flowers to know the following aspect about me

  • Favorite Values
  • Favorite People environment
  • Favorite Skills
  • Favorite work conditions
  • Geography
  • Favorite interests
  • Salary and Level of Responsibility.
