What a great day to end the week.
Jewish Shabbat services went smooth.
After count, lunch was “grab and go”, so I was able to bring it back to the dorm and add my spices/seasonings and olive oil.
Finishing lunch I headed to the chapel to wait for the Spanish Christian band, but they never showed so I spent some time to myself watching the movie “God’s Not Dead: 2” peacefully while at the same time testing it and leaving it prepped for the movie night.
4pm Count clears, I go grab dinner then head to the Chapel and get everything turned on and ready for the movie night. Just to add a quick testimony, at around 6:05pm the move had not been called, I mention to the Chaplain, “Hopefully they do not open rec so I do not have to go for my 7pm course by the name of “Inside and Out” in the recreation yard and I could stay to finish watching the movie and monitor the soundboard in case of anything; we both look at the sky and he tells me, “does not seem like that will be the case”.
Inmates start sliding in at the call of the move at 6:07pm and take their seats, and the movie begins.
The Chaplain signals to me that the 7pm move is on, so I head to the recreation yard, movie still playing. I arrive at the benches where the class is meeting and I take a pre-test which takes me 10 minutes and I head back over by the entrance to recreation to wait, hoping I could get back to the movie in time for the end, to help the Chaplain close out everything in the Chapel and put everything back in its place.
Ten minutes to 8pm it began pouring down rain, and I hear over the PA system, “Rec yard is closed”, and as everyone starts gathering at the gate, the rain stops, and we are let out. I’m first to walk out and I don’t think I have ever walked so fast, that I was able to get back to the Chapel in time for the last fifteen minutes of the movie.
Forty-Three inmates including myself were present for the movie, we had a few “criers” and I feel the message got through to many. What a great movie. I understand it is also on Netflix for those who may be interested. I am now back at the dorm, showered, called home, spoke to mom, her and I are super excited for tomorrow’s visit.
Tea cup in hand, I’m still strict with my diet and soon heading to bed.
Successful day I will say and on to a better tomorrow.
