I am native American and as long as I can remember as a child growing up I was indoctrinated in a practice of massage. at family get-togethers, usually the holidays, I would have to give back rubs to the elders as they sat around warm fireplaces. they would instruct me where to massage and when my young hands’ strength gave out I would have to use my elbows which I could always get to apply more pressure to their sore muscles. over time as I grew up and soaked up more knowledge through trial and error I used many techniques that are used by popular styles of professional masseuse. I began to read books an acupressure and how points on the foot and hands lead to areas all around the body and even organs inside the body. since I’ve been incarcerated it is harder to find these kinds of books and when I do I come across one in the library I study it for as long as I can before distractions or return deadlines for me to lose focus. I rarely have enough money to buy my own books to keep but have an idea to buy my own when I get out for personal study. I think even that would be a good business to start even though with a record I would find it hard to get a job at a fancy resort or spa, I could still do amateur massages as a side hustle, although I definitely need to look up the logistics of whether I have to actually require a certification to practice a private business in that field. in prison it’s been a lucrative hustle as many of these guys do sports or workouts that get them sore or even injured requiring a ghetto physical therapist. It made me a stamp or two over the years and I must be good at it because my customers always come back.
