The ways I am using my time inside to prepare for success upon release is that I have been learning from masterminds such as Mandela on how they succeeded even after having to spend time inside. I have learned that perseverance is not an option. I have been able to research business plans and build a program that I can use once released to encourage others to also push through their time learning. I am working so that once I am released I can provide a therapy dog training program to those inside than once those trainers are released will lead them to a position with the non profit that I will be working with. The hope is that by providing the dogs as well as the training for the dogs while on the inside it will build people up and push them to want to work for a brighter future. By providing the opportunity to work as a trainer once released it will assist them in building up a career once released. By having a solid plan for not only myself but being able to assist others once released I will be able to show data to those in the government to show that having a position upon release reduces recidivism and that having a goal that individuals are able to work towards while incarcerated reduces disciplinary issues. My goal is to work towards allowing people a successful future once released as well as to advocate for those still incarcerated as to how they can begin building a future from inside.
