Moment of Power #2
Just Do It!

“But ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you.. Acts 1:8”

Nike is known for the iconic slogan, “Just Do It.” Throughout Biblical history, God challenges his people with what I call NOW CHALLENGES. We can find words like immediately, suddenly and NOW, as God motivates his people. I John 2:8(b) “the true light shinneth now..” The power to change your life exists now, the present time. Even the most prevalent definition of faith according to the Bible starts with the word now:
“Now faith is the substance (element) of things hope for, the evidence (proof) of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). What did or did not happen in your past, changes to your advantage, if you grasp the power of accepting what’s possible;e now.

Jesu challenged a man who had an infirmity for thirty eight years, to JUST DO IT NOW. It was at the Pool of Bethesda, where an angel at a certain season would go to the pool to trouble the water. People with blindness, impotencies and other problems would go to be made whole (heal-thy), See John 5: 1015. Jesus asked him, will thou be made whole in verse six. The man basically told Jesus that others jumped in front of him every time he tried to get his healing/deliverance and that no one seem to want to help him get to the healing waters. Evidently, the man being disable, could not walk. He laid in a bed. Jesus knew he had been there in that condition a ling times; yet, challenged him anyway:
” Rise, Take up your bed, and walk (John 5:8).
I love the 9th verse that says immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed and walked:”

I have great respect for longtimers, While I celebrate and am grateful for the mercy and grace of our Lord and Savior touching the heart of my judge, I’m humbled when I read and hear testimonies of people who have served 10, 15, 20 years or more and yet have a positive view of life. It does not matter how long we’ve been down, sick, down trodden or lost our way. The now question propelled by our now faith is this:
Will you be made whole NOW? It’s interesting how Jesus said Rise (Get Up). Take up you Bed (Remove all excuses), and Walk (Do Something). When the man accepted the challenge, hew was immediately made whole, without concerns of his past anymore. He got up (rose up= rivulet GK), folded up his bed and walked (actively participated in his own healing/deliverance) and was made whole, which comes from the word healthy, or shall I say heal + thy, i.e. heal thyself. Heal yourself.

There’s hope. We must know God has a specific purpose for our new life and takes pleasure in giving us what’s necessary to fulfill such purpose. We must also realize that he empowers us to get up from depression and helplessness to just do it now. The First Step Act may not have worked for you, not the second chance act or the two point reduction. Those may not have been your seasons nor times. many may have turned their backs on you and reality is that many brothers in sisters seemingly have no one to get them to the pool of healing for their lives. You have someone. you have Jesus and with him comes power to Rise up with purpose.

I challenge you, read the word of God. Read positive motivating literature. Get out the bed of “L can’t do it or it’s too late.”
Pray!
Praise God for Victory!
Plan!
Pursue!
Persevere!
Prevail!
Your past can not stop the power of now.

Just Do It, Now.
