Journal Entry

Yesterday evening was a very pivotal moment in my marriage of almost 30 years.

As I was watching a TV show, I learned the term RBTSD, Race Based Traumatic Stress Disorder. This is a real condition that affects many people of color.

The motivation behind learning about this is to have a higher level of awareness of people’s trauma, so I may be an even more effective recovery coach.

As I did some light research, I came across the definition and symptoms of Complex-PTSD. And, I realized that my wife experiences at least 9 out of the 10 symptoms daily. The causes are also in line with what she’s expressed to me she has experienced in her childhood. I felt a deep sadness in my heart as I haven’t been as understanding and compassionate with her in our parenting roles.

What an eye opener! I immediately resolved to let her know I now understand I haven’t been as understanding and compassionate as I can be and committed myself to love and understand her at a higher level.

A long time ago, I heard a quote: “When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.”
I believe now is a great time to receive this lesson.

This is a huge lesson for me, as my wife has been, through good and tough times, my life partner.

Overall, yesterday was an expansion day, and I feel it in my nervous system.
