Journal Entry

Vince’s Daily Journal – Day Zero
– – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – –

After more than a year of Mr. Santos’ Daily Newsletter arriving in my inbox every morning – that would be a year of him living his best life as a free man with his family while still writing a newsletter bordering on thirteen thousand characters every single day for those of us left behind, as well as a year of me living a life that has very few demands on my time, and posting nearly nothing in the same time – I’ve realized I have nothing stopping me but my own motivation. I may not always have a clear topic, or purpose, or insight to share – in fact, that’s often the reason behind my lack of posting. But anyone who’s willing to bear with me and follow along, I have a few things I’m confident I can offer you here:

-Amusement – Seriously, ask anyone who knows me, my primary assets is being able to make others smile… often at my expense, but hey, we can only work with the talents the Good Lord gave us!

-Perspective – As an under-educated, broadly-read, exceptionally average straight cis-gender white man I happen to have the same “position” in society as the people who have notoriously been the ‘Stereotypical American’… however, because I’m also an imprisoned man who’s suffered quite a bit of trauma throughout life who’s smarter than it may seem… and a whole lot more acerbic than most people… I hope that I can give a different take on a portion of the population that’s more nuanced than we currently seem to be aware

-Inspiration – Living in an environment with so much negativity, I try to stay constantly on the look-out for moments of encouragement and inspiration, and I love to share those. As Megan and I are also in the process of reading the Bible-in-a-Year (following Fr. Mike Schmitz), and I attend Mass as regularly as I can, I may have tidbits I can pass along there.

-Stories – I’m in a very different place than most people, so maybe I can help give some insight into a world that most people will never see – never even touch.

This might be a little rough at first, and it might not be perfectly consistent, but bear with me, and we’ll get there.

God Bless you all!
