Journal Entry

April 16, 2025

I was indicted in August 2021. I found out when I received a text from a friend while my wife and I were at dinner with friends. The DOJ press release was published by a healthcare news website and shared with their email list. One charge of conspiracy and twenty-four charges of healthcare fraud. All felonies. Charged with many millions of dollars of loss at Medicare. All from about 18 months of doing telemedicine with a bunch of companies offering durable medical equipment joint braces and compounded topical pain creams. But I was not doing it right. I broke the Medicare guidelines, the requirements as a physician, and Federal laws.

August 20, 2021, was the last day that I will ever work as an anesthesiologist. No group/company would hire me, and no hospital would credential me. Since then I have been blessed to work at an amazing functional medicine clinic. I have known the owner for many years, and we had worked together a little already. For some reason he stood by me, and he brought me in full time to run their therapies and see patients in a much different way, a better way.

Quickly after the indictment, my marriage collapsed. I was sleeping on the couch in our basement and forced to move out a couple months later. The divorce was finalized less than a year later, after 19 years of marriage. We had four children. Four amazing, smart, talented, and faithful children. Children that I have barely seen or heard from for nearly a year.
