i would like to see changes for violent offenders. giving us more chances at changing our lives & getting home to our families. like me, alot of offenders comitted their crimes at very young ages. young & impreshionable as we can be at those ages sometimes we dont think before we act. sometimes we become products of our environment. without better options or examples to follow we get caught up in the wrong life style. when i was growing up i dreamed of a better life. a life away from the streets that i was raised in. without opportunities to make those dreams come true or the right people in my life to show me a path to a different life i quickly got caught in the middle of the very life i wanted to escape. coming to prison changed me in many ways. i have read many books & taught myslf new ways to think & live. still i hit a dead end in my rehabilitation when i realized that nomatter what i do or how many programs i take none of it helps me get home to my family & children any faster. none of these laws apply to me. i have also looked into many organizations & things for when i release but always my violent offense disqualifies me for many things. i would very much like to see this change. for one thing ive learned in here is that nomatter what you have done to get here anybody has the ability to change their life if they choose to do so. i believe that those people like myself who have made those changes deserve as much opportunities at a second chance as anybody else coming out of the system.
