Here’s a list of my goals in no order. Some could be listed as short-term and others as long-term goals. This should give anyone an idea of what my future will be.
GOALS for Kelly W. Smith:
1) Contact 100 organizations for material on; Prisons’ Reform, Prison Industrial Complex, Entrepreneurship, Grants, Re-Entry Handbooks, and Religious Services Correspondence Courses. The mailing of these requests will depend on available funds on hand for stamps and supplies. The mailings started on 2/2/24 when I returned to the Federal Detention Center-Philadelphia.
Thank you letters have been sent via email or regular mail for the material received. The mailroom doesn’t always provide the name/address of who sent the material. But I am deeply grateful for the materials I have received from everyone.
As of today, the following have been contacted:
31 Books/Magazine/Newsletters Requested
15 Bible Study Courses Requested
As of today, the following books have been received:
Disciplinary Self-Help Litigation Manual 2nd ED
The Habeas Citebook: Ineffective Assistance of Counsel 2nd ED
The Habeas Citebook: Prosecutorial Misconduct
Prison Professors Release Plan 2024
American Purgatory – Prison Imperialism and the Rise of Mass Incarcerated by Benjamin D., Weber (Book Report to follow)
Locked Down, Locked Out – Why Prion Doesn’t Work and How We Can Do Better by Maya Schenwar (Book Report to follow)
Illegal to Legal by R.L. Pelshaw
2) Have a Tribe of 100 to support and mentor. I have passed on material and have assisted in their knowledge of what is needed for their own prison sentence and their Release Plan. I have passed on the information of Prison Professor’s to each and everyone that’s part of my Tribe.
As of today I am at 4 I have assisted.
3) Focus on my career path of Prison Reform Management/Consulting upon my release. Learn the history of the Prison Industrial Complex and work to the closing of prisons and the release of adults in custody. This will come from the information I obtain from my 1st goal and what might be available at my assigned location.
4) Support the community of learning of the grassroots activities out there as well as the major players in the Prison Reform field. To bring the prison system down. This will increase my support group of those with the same mindset of seeing less people incarcerated.
5) Create 100 Lesson Plans of 100 hours in the Re-Entry from prison field, to give those adults in custody another tool to learn from and how to change to be a better person once they are released from prisons and halfway houses.
As of today, I have 10-15 lessons in a draft format.
