Journal Entry

Today I focus on mental wellbeing by tending plants. The “Sembrando Paz” vivarium had over 16,000 seedlings, including rare native trees, and became a therapeutic oasis in a harsh environment ICRC Blogs+4ICRC+4Hopebuilding+4.

Goal: spend peaceful, reflective time in the garden daily—tell my worries to the plants, observe growth, breathe, find calm.

Routine: After chores, spend 30 minutes in the garden: watering, pruning, observing soil. Pause to reflect, breathe deeply, observe small changes—leaf unfurling, seedlings emerging.

Benefits

Mental health boost: nature calms, reduces stress and anxiety.

Mindfulness development: focusing on plant life here and now.

Connection: caring for a living thing fosters empathy and responsibility.

Journal prompt: What plant surprised me today? Did I sense any shift in my mood? What did I learn?

By nurturing life, I remind myself that I also deserve care and growth.
