Journal Entry for the Week of 6/24/2024 — 6/29/2024
Monday: Today began with Ryan absent and Anthony arriving promptly at 7:30 AM. Our team comprised Sean, Reggie, Anthony, and myself, focusing on a significant project in Nogales. Our tasks involved applying white and yellow high-build paint using Ennis buckets, followed by priming with regular beads for enhanced durability and visibility of the lines. Concurrently, Cole, Cody, and Nick worked on a shortline project in Nogales, using high-build paint and meticulously checking arrow stencils and an ‘R’ stencil at the Speedy hub to ensure accuracy.
Tuesday: Our team today included Sean, Anthony, Cody, and myself, assigned to a project at Pinal AirPark where we concentrated on longline paint for yards 4 and ws12 stop bars. Meanwhile, Reggie, Ryan, Cole, and Nick tackled the 2nd and 4th Ave Thermo Crosswalk and Signs, employing a premelter and handliner to ensure precise execution and safety at the crosswalks.
Wednesday: With Anthony and Reggie absent, our team divided into smaller groups. Sean, Cody, and Ryan focused on RPMs and blackout touch-ups in Sahuarita, while Cole and Nick worked on the TEP blackout project and stencil applications. Simultaneously, another team including myself, Lucas, and Deke handled water blasting of legends at Cane’s Chicken, each group efficiently completing their respective tasks with high-quality outcomes.
Thursday: Today, with several team members including Anthony, Nick, Sean, Cody, Cole, and Ryan off, Reggie and I were tasked with pressure washing the Thermo truck and waterblaster, ensuring all equipment was meticulously cleaned and maintained to our exacting standards.
Friday: With Ryan absent again, I had the day off while Sean, Cody, Reggie, and Anthony concentrated on longline painting on roads in Marana and Bill Martin Rd. Concurrently, Cole and Nick performed pressure washing on fire curbs at Marana Municipal Center, both teams achieving significant progress in maintaining the infrastructure.
Saturday: Today, with Anthony off, the remaining team members – Sean, Reggie, Ryan, Cole, myself, Nick, and Cody – undertook a substantial project at Marana Municipal Center. Our focus was on re-striping the large parking lot, encompassing lines, hashing, stencils, and 700 feet of red curb. To optimize efficiency, we operated 3-4 machines in smaller crews, enabling us to handle multiple tasks concurrently and complete the project within the day.
Reflection: Looking back on this week, the importance of teamwork and efficient task management is undeniable. Each team member’s dedication and hard work ensured the successful completion of all projects to the highest standards, significantly contributing to the safety and aesthetic enhancement of the areas we worked on.
