As I put pen to paper on this day, it carries a weight of anticipation, reflection, and a sense of determination. Tomorrow, November 29, 2023, is the day I draw closer to my surrender, the beginning of a 28-month journey that awaits me. This path is one I never envisioned at this stage in my life, but it’s a journey that has already begun to shape me in profound ways.
In times of uncertainty and adversity, I often turn to the wisdom found in the Book of Psalms. Psalm 46:10, “Be still, and know that I am God,” resonates deeply within me. It serves as a reminder that even amidst life’s chaos and challenges, there is strength to be found in moments of faith and surrender. These words have guided me through some of the darkest days, and I carry them with me as I approach this new chapter.
The takeaway from this passage is as timeless as it is powerful: in the face of uncertainty, when the world feels heavy and overwhelming, it’s essential to find stillness within ourselves, to connect with our faith, and to trust in a greater purpose that unfolds beyond our immediate understanding. It’s a lesson in resilience, faith, and the enduring power of the human spirit.
Now, as I stand on the threshold of this life-altering journey, I am reminded of the lessons that brought me here. Lessons of resilience, faith, and the enduring strength of the human spirit. Life has been a series of trials and tribulations, but this chapter represents a unique challenge.
In the midst of my anticipation, I also carry with me a sense of purpose and determination. Prison, a place often seen as one of punishment and isolation, can also be a crucible for personal development. It’s within these walls that I will find ample time for introspection, self-evaluation, and contemplation. A chance to break free from the chains of past mistakes and emerge as a stronger, wiser individual.
I aim to be an example, to show others that even in the face of adversity, we have the power to recalibrate our lives. This won’t be the first time in my life that I’ve had to overcome a crisis.
While the uncertainty of the road ahead may be overwhelming, I choose to approach it with a positive mindset. This time, within the confines of my cell, I will immerse myself in the pursuit of knowledge. Reading, writing, and intellectual exploration will become my companions, providing solace and a sense of purpose.
Yet, my journey isn’t one that I face alone. I have a loving wife, Vivian, who has been by my side for over four decades, and three wonderful daughters. Together, we have eight beloved grandchildren. They are my motivation, my source of strength, and a reminder that I am not alone in this journey.
Prison, despite its challenges, can also offer redemption and second chances. It’s an opportunity to make amends, confront past mistakes, and emerge as a better version of oneself. Through education, vocational training, and therapy, I will equip myself with the tools needed to reintegrate into society and lead a fulfilling life once more.
As I enter this challenging chapter, I find comfort in the knowledge that I am not defined by my circumstances alone. I am a person with dreams, aspirations, and an unwavering capacity for growth. This period of my life will not define me but serve as a stepping stone toward a brighter future.
In the words of Victor Frankl, “When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.” As the clock inches closer to my surrender, I am ready to embrace this new chapter, to confront my inner demons, and to emerge as a stronger, more resilient individual.
In closing, this journal entry marks the beginning of a new phase, an opportunity to discover meaning and purpose even in the most challenging of circumstances. With faith as my guide and the support of my loved ones, I am prepared to embark on this journey of self-discovery and transformation. As I step into the unknown, I hold onto the belief that this chapter will not define me but will serve as a testament to human resilience and our capacity for growth.
With each passing day, I move closer to prison, and it’s in that place that I intend to write a new workbook, one that teaches and inspires others. I am considering several titles, and as I embark on this journey, I will choose the one that resonates most deeply with my mission:
