Moment of Power article number 4:
What do You Think?
By: Fleming James Ivory
“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all
we ask or think. according to the power
that worketh in us (Ephesians 3:20).”
What does God think about you? What do you think about yourself and life? Your answers determines what happens next in your life, as well as the remainder of life’s journey, more specifically , as a child of God. Notice, I did not ask, “What do others think about you?” That matters not if you remain powerfully and purposefully cognitive of the endless possibilities of your new life in Christ Jesus, if/when you think on the right things that are productive/healthy and adhere to what The Mighty God (himself) thinks about you.
During this moment of power, I challenge all of us to examine what and who steers our thoughts. It’s refreshing to know that when we change our minds, we very much change our lives as well. Society can be unforgiving and will think the worse of it’s fallen members. Even family and friends whom are hurt by your demise, may find it hard to ever again see you in a favorable light. They may think:
. His/her life is over and ruined.
. You got what you deserve.
. People never change; therefore, you can’t be trusted.
. Once a criminal, always a criminal….. and other negative condemning thoughts.
I have great news for you. Your/our heavenly Father has amazing and wonderful thoughts concerning us, his children. Such thoughts are plans to restore, revive, renew and rejuvenate you, to help you reach your destiny:
“For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, saith the Lord,
thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end (Jeremiah 29:11).”
Without going deep into more details, God gave this message to Jeremiah for his people after they disobeyed him and were allowed by God to be taken into captivity. They thought it was over.
Regardless of what anyone think of you, you can live with the assurance that God thinks thoughts of peace towards you, not evil and how to give you what’s necessary for you to get back on track and make it to your life’s destination victoriously. That means God pondered and cogitated concerning your life to produce a plan specifically designed for you. As a matter of fact, God thinks about you, me, his people…A Lot:
“Many , O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done and thy
thoughts which are to usward: they can not be reckoned up in order unto thee: If I would declare and
speak of them, they are more than can be numbered Psalm 40:5.”
Wow! If you stack up the good thoughts God has concerning you to reach heaven, you’d still have more thoughts left over once you reach God basically. That should give you some idea of how important and loved you are.
” How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God: How great is the sum of them!
If I should count them, they are more in numbers than the sand: When I awake, I am still with thee (Psalm 139: 17&18).
The cerrebrum is a vital part of the human brain. Within it, two parts (twins if I may say), determines the human’s character, thought and personality. Before the publishing of science books, the same concept was written in the Hebrew Scriptures (Bible) in Proverbs 32:7…
” For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he..”
After we’ve fallen and become subject to what people think, we also become products of our own thinking. That’s why it’s very important that we think great things about our now and our future, and what our Father in heaven thinks about us, before we were even thought of on earth. If we think life is horrible and will get worse, our minds will formulate such truth we have visioned and then create what we’ve conceived in our thought bank about ourselves.
Since my fall and losing everything, becoming suicidal as well in 2019, my life has changed tremendously and positively, giving me joy beyond my expectations. I stopped concerning myself with what others think about me (negatively). and began filling mind with a cognitive diet of thoughts conducive to healthy growth, based on what the word of God says about me and what is possible, if I believe. I’m healthier, full of joy, vision oriented and prepared to do great things to change the lives of others for the purpose of redemption.
Now you know what God thinks about you and you see that it really does matter what you think about yourself, get rid of negative, hurtful, worthless thoughts that contribute to depression, sadness, guilt, and shame. Keep company only with people who support your healing and success. Program the thought CPU in your brain with the right thoughts that will fuel growth in the right direction (s); thereby, producing a personality to win and become victorious.
“Finally my brethren (and sisters), whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue,
and if there be any praise, think on these things (Philippians 4:8).”
Think About It!
