Journal Entry: Eduardo Luis Valdes-07/22/2024-Day 1041

Journal Entry

Happy Birthday to my dad, one year closer to the big 70.

I have been feeling “under the weather” these past few days. Ever since my stem-cell transplant back in the year 2016, I get sick so much easier, especially when I am not able to rest enough. Even so, I need to remain disciplined enough to wake up early, and get to Mr. Rivero on time to wheel him over to commissary. He overslept, and once ready we headed out of the unit and stopped first in the dining room for breakfast. The kitchen was done serving and we missed out.
Right outside the dining room we meet up with others in line for commissary, but due to a system issue, we were all sent back to the unit.
A while later, we head back out to commissary, grab our items, return to the dorm, and the officer asks us all to leave the unit so the installers could come and work, so I take Mr. Rivero with me over to the chapel. Several other inmates also came by the chapel, but it wasn’t until after lunch that due to bad weather, everyone from our unit that was out at the recreation yard was asked to go to the chapel, so I put in a movie for everyone to watch. Majority picked the movie “The Shack”. Another excellent movie for anyone to watch. Such a heartfelt message, and emotional story.
After dinner, I took a risk and headed to “rec” and played racquetball with the guys. It was fun and did not feel as sick as I am feeling right at this moment. I have a tea in front of me, which I added vitamin C pills, lemon juice, honey, and a halls cough drop. It tastes pretty good, and I hope it helps me feel better.

Tomorrow is another busy day, as I met with my counselor today and he mentioned that we will be having a large group of inmates for orientation, so I will be up early again and in the chapel preparing everything for a smooth presentation.

Now time to call mom, drink my tea, watch some tv before count.

Goodnight to all.
