I chose to read this story because I want to read about great thinkers who done some groundbreaking work to create something from humble beginnings that is now a leading company in the world today. I wanted to see what that took and when it started. I was amazed to see that from the begining Mr. Gates was not the ideal child as far as his behavior was concerned. He was always getting into trouble at school, he argued with his parents. The thing that stood out though was that he was always digesting reading material and had a strong hunger for learning about new things. School was a bore to him so his parents eventually put him in a private school so that he could be challenged. He was impressive in his ability to learn things fast and he excelled in math above other things. It was because math was systematic that he enjoyed it. He began working with computers and programming code as early as 12 years old. He was very involved with the other guys that were like him in the fact that they didn’t fit into the status quo. As he got older he began to dive deeper into his passion until it had consumed his every moment. He landed jobs with tech companies early on with a few of his friends because they learned to code early. The company needed someone to find bugs in the system they were creating to start a new business. The first paid gig he got was one working for his school to program a scheduling algorithim to make schedules for the students of his highschool. This was a great success for him and his friends. He was always ambitious and looking forward to what he thought would be a great business in the future but distant. He went on to Harvard to go to University and from there he learned so much more about coding along the way. He took classes to strengthen his mind and just to learn new things. He challenged his self all the time. His work ethic to create what he has built today was tireless and incessant. He was literally sleeping and not showering in the computer lab to create the codes that he would right for companies. He landed a few jobs early on and learned lessons from them. He worked his way with partners to starting a new type of business and became a successful company eventually. The work ethic was amazing and I can see there is a pattern with these guys who do great things. They sacrifice everything to get where they want to go. It takes major focus and doing without things to achieve the things that he achieved along with many others.
