Book Report

Author of Book:

Michael Santos

Date Read:

I read this book because I have been inspired—not only by the strength, character and resilience of Michael’s time in prison, but also by everything he has done since and continues doing to help others as an agent for change within the criminal justice and prison systems.

I learned in this book what it means to face challenges head on with boldness and confidence. I learned, through Michael’s example, ways that I can take my own experience as a justice-impacted individual and use it as a force for good. I learned that how I respond to my experience will determine my future and I’m excited to respond with energy, humility and dignity.
This book will not only help me through my time of incarceration, showing me ways to stand out, to be extraordinary and to help others impacted by the system who may lack the resources, knowledge or wherewithal to advocate for themselves. I’m immensely blessed to have found a mentor in Michael Santos, who has demonstrated and continues to live out his commitments, and I will strive in all ways to emulate, and if possible, to eventually work with him with my own desire to help others and be an agent for change within the criminal justice system.
