Book report for Earning Freedom by Michael Santos

1) The reason I chose to read this book is a fellow inmate who I introduced me to the prison professors and shares a very similar mindset as me and handed it to me and told me I needed to read it.

2) One of the many things I learned from the book is no matter what stage of incarceration your in you should always be focusing on your plan for release even if you have to adjust it along the way. Another thing that I about book is how Michael kept his mind focused no matter what situation he was forced into. This gave me several ideas to adjust my daily routine so that I am not wasting my time but using every possible part of it in the best possible way to set myself up for a better future.

3) The Main lesson I learned from the book was no to wait on certain things I thought would be ok to wait till I was released to take care of instead to take care of everything possible as soon as possible. Through reading this book I started working more diligently on my plan to make sure I don’t have any holes that can set me up or bog me down. Another lesson I feel is very important that is portrayed throughout the entire book is to never give up, never compromise on you values or what you believe in, and no matter what keep pushing forward. Having the mindset of “it doesn’t matter where they send me I can do my time, my way, anywhere they send me” is one of the greatest mindsets any inmate can have, especially to conquer the sentence Michael did, the way he did. Its truly motivational.
