My name is Kassandra Moore, and I was sentenced to 20 years in a women’s prison in Ocala, Florida in 2022. While on bail, I published my first book, received mental help, volunteered for my local humane society, fed the hungry weekly with my husband through our church, and taught myself the drums as a form of therapy.
While serving my sentence, I keep my promises to my husband and loved ones to better myself and grow from my terrible past decisions by maintaining daily/weekly communication with them, graduating from self-betterment programs, completing courses, staying active in a fitness group, playing the drums in our chapel, daily journaling, writing for publishing, and accepting leadership roles to guide and mentor other incarcerated women. As a peer facilitator for the Horizon FCB program, I taught classes, mentored, and I devised and coordinated my prison’s first “Community Outreach” activity where I bridged the gap between the incarcerated and the community through handmade cards to a local wildlife rehab, showing our appreciation for what they do for society. Currently, I hold the highest inmate position for the Peer-To-Peer Incentive Program as the Senior Coordinator, direct community building activities and decorate my dorm’s bulletin, am in a 16-week Wellness certification course, paint murals in our lounge, and endeavor to bring my “community outreach” idea to the Incentive Program, which I earned acceptance through good behavior.
My values are wildlife rehabilitation and conservation, family, faith in Jesus Christ, a strong support network, education, and advocating for prisoners and felons like me. I believe I’m a worthy candidate for relief as I’m indefatigably working to become a healthier person for myself and those around me and learning/preparing however I can for success after prison. I’m passionate and determined to become an asset to society, make amends whenever possible, and change the lives of others in powerfully positive ways through empathy, compassion, prayer, and forgiveness.
