Today I remained in Tucson while the rest of the crew worked out in Superior and Rio Rico. I treated the day as a chance to catch up on essential yard work and equipment maintenance—things that often get overlooked during field operations. I was clocked in by 6 a.m., coffee in hand and mindset clear.
My first order of business was to walk the yard and perform a visual check on all trailers. I inspected tie-downs, looked for wear on tires, and made sure all hitches and locks were functional. Next, I reorganized several toolboxes and did a deep clean of the Thermo unit that had been brought back from recent use. It had some residue buildup around the hopper, so I scraped and power-washed those areas to extend the life of the equipment.
I took time to restock supplies in the main utility trailer: gloves, glass beads, caution tape, extra fuses, and torch fuel. I also refueled all gas cans and made a list of items running low that we’ll need to reorder soon. These may seem like small steps, but they save hours when we’re under pressure out in the field.
