Journal Entry

I had my child development class. I’ve been focusing on a lot of defense mechanisms a lot. Repression has brought a lot of past traumas up for me. I guess our minds really do try to protect us by buryinbg things deep in our subconscious. And our amygdala is where we store our emotional memory. So when a similar emotion comes up our amygdala sends information to our limbic system our lizard brain and our fight or flight brain starts to respond to our emotions. So taking a time out gives time for my thinking brain to start to take over and make good decisions.

Character defects: trauma, PTSD, lizard brain.

Grateful: Spirituality, education making every failure a positive because it is another experience to learn from, mindfulness.
